Governance and Society Bulletin
The Bulletin is an irregular publication of the British Council's centralGovernance and Society Team in the United Kingdom. Its purpose is to share stories of governance related projects around the world and to inform contacts and colleagues on what is happening in the UK in terms of governance and society policy development and implementation.
Each issue of the bulletin includes a feature article which discusses a particular theme and its relevance to our work in governance and its contribution to cultural relations. Topics to date have included Community Cohesion, Social Enterprise, Governance and Climate Change.
Connecting Classrooms builds lasting partnerships between groups of schools in the UK and in over 60 countries around the world.
Through these partnerships, the programme develops understanding and trust between young people in different societies, creating a safer and more connected world for the future. Read on
OPENCities explores how immigration can significantly contribute to city success. By tracing the links between new migrant population (first and second generation) and other drivers of success within cities, OPENCities will produce a portfolio of best practice case studies, indexes of cities' openness and a set of guidelines for city policies. In 2007 we launched the biggest comparative study yet of migrant integration policies across 25 EU countries, Canada, Switzerland and Norway, in Brussels. In Germany, the report was launched in 2008.

Transatlantic Network 2020 seeks to create sustainable, multilateral networks that span the Atlantic by engaging future leaders from North America, the UK, and the rest of Europe to collaboratively address global issues.

This project enhances the capacity of future leaders to meet global challenges. It links young community activists and future influencers from diverse backgrounds around the world in a sustainable global network. The participants are emerging talents, aged 16-25, who are committed to positive social change in their communities. Read on
The Our Shared Europe project is our response to one of the major cultural challenges facing our continent today – the growing mutual mistrust between Muslim communities and wider European society. The project seeks to find common ground, and build shared values, perspectives and behaviours that are based on mutual respect and trust. Read on
