TRANSGENDER AND INTERSEX IN THE ARTS, SCIENCE AND SOCIETY

International and Interdisciplinary Conference

The aim of this conference is to offer a multiperspectivist approach in order to transcend both the boundaries between the relatively recently established disciplines of Gender Studies, Masculinity Studies, Queer Studies, Transgender and Intersex Studies as well as, more generally, the traditional divide between the natural/life sciences and the humanities.

We shall ask how transgender and intersex are conceptualised and negotiated both within and across a whole array of different, often divergent disciplines, what specific insights are produced and in how far artistic and creative discourses offer their own uniquely relevant forms of expression and knowledge. The conference will also stress the political, legal and social dimensions of transgender and intersex.
