Tim Parks was born in Manchester and has lived in Verona with his Italian wife since 1981. He teaches literary translation at the university in Milan . In his publications “Italian Neighbours” (1992) and “An Italian Education” (1996), Parks describes Italian provincial life.

In 2002, with his book “A Season with Verona ”, Parks provides a lively view into one Seria A campaign with the Italian football side Hellas Verona – an extensive essay about the pleasures and dangers of collective passion.

For 20 years, Tim Parks has observed the development of Hellas Verona. He established contact to hooligan-groups and accompanies the team at home and away. In doing so, he travels to some of the world's most beautiful cities, where he discovers the peculiarities and character of the cities from a football perspective.

The work is a tribute to a country, its people and its sport.
