To register for IELTS, simply follow these five steps:

Read the Information for Candidates
Check Dates and availability in your selected city for the tests.

! Please note that the speaking test sometimes takes place on the Friday before the test date. This aplies to the following cities: Düsseldorf, Dortmund, Freiburg, Cologne, Mannheim, Munich and Stuttgart. You will be sent an email stating your appointment.

Please send us the completed application form
(pages 1-4)
and enclose the following:

  • Two passport size colour photos (not older than 6 months). From 1 January 2010 candidates must not wear glasses on the photographs.

  • A signed copy of the Cancellation and Refunds policy

  • A clear photocopy of your valid Passport or local Identity Card (Candidates, who are not EU nationals have to provide a copy of their passport)

  • Proof of payment (bank transfer receipt / online banking transfer receipt / bank statement)

Many banks charge a fee of € 13 for international money transfers. Kindly remember to adjust the amount accordingly.

Please note that we do not accept applications by E-Mail or Fax, you should send the completed documents by post to the British Council Berlin.

You will find the deadline for applications next to each test date. We cannot accept applications after the closing date. We must have received the complete application documents together with payment by the closing date.

Please note that incomplete applications cannot be processed and will be returned to the sender.

Please also note that for applicants that are under 18 years, a parent has to sign next to the candidate’s signature on page four.
