Call for participants' applications, a few places remaining

The British Council in Germany would like to invite you to its second Berlin summer school supported by the Hornby Trust. The theme is "Positive influencing in education management".

Please note that this summer school differs from previous Hornby summer schools: participants should be education managers, policy makers or teacher trainers.

Dates: 6-19 August 2006
Location: Evangelisches Johannesstift, Berlin
Costs for participants: EURO 380

Course Director: Mary Bounds, English Studies Manager, British Council Turkey
Course tutors: Cristiana Faur from Romania and Erzsébet Csibi from Hungary

The following sub-themes will be covered:
  • Communication skills & negotiating techniques
  • Motivation techniques
  • Holding people accountable
  • Giving feedback
  • Assertiveness
  • Upward and downward influencing
  • Project management

  • Teamwork
  • Empowerment and autonomy
  • Creating ownership of projects

There will also be sessions on ELT specific themes and on ICT in education.
