"Hume was born in 1962, and is in
the generation of British artists who
graduated from Goldsmiths College,
London, and came to prominence in the
early 1990s. Internationally recognised
in both Europe and America, Hume has
exhibited extensively around the world.
In 1996 he was the British representative
at the São Paulo Biennale and in the
same year was nominated for the
Turner Prize.
"Cape Farewell, in
its ambitions and
methods, represents
a more open exercise than
communication about
climate change. It’s a true
expedition of untramelled
minds into a changing
world of uncertain forms
and feelings.
Its outcomes
were never predetermined
in methodology
or propagandistic
in intent."
