Heather
Ackroyd and
Dan
Harvey have worked
collaboratively on an international level
since 1990. Their work is shaped by the
natural processes of growth, erosion and
decay. For example, they created a piece
on the light-sensitivity of seedling grass
and its ability to record complex
photographic images, since exhibited
throughout Europe and in the US.
They have joined all three Cape
Farewell expeditions.
"There is no easy
response to this
place. The extreme
cold wrapped tendrils of
ice into our clothes, coated
our eye-lashes with frost
mascara and delivered
shocks of pain to exposed
fingers and toes. Dan and I
carved a lump of glacial ice
into a large disc-shaped
lens. And we made casts
of polar bear foot prints
tracking around the boat,
but this time, foot
prints were all we saw
of them."
